Tad and Ty (9 weeks)



Gorgeous Adorable little cuties what more can we say. Just the first of many pairs of kittens to be unloved and unwanted and taken in by the shelter every year. Why oh why don\'t people just neuter their cats??, please offer them a safe and loving new home we are sure they will fill your home with fun.

Pebbles (2 Years)



Pebble is a quiet gentle soul who has kind of disappeared into his shell since he has been at the centre. He was brought here because his elderly owner couldn’t cope with him and he is very sad at the moment. Pebble is an affectionate boy who just wants to be loved back and would appreciate a calm quiet home where he’ll feel safe enough to be himself again. Could you promise to love and give him a home for life.

Whiskey and Spotty (4 years)



A wonderful pair of siblings who have been at Axhayes for months and months now. They were originally brought into us as their owners landlord said she couldn\'t keep them, how unfair they\'d been with her since youngsters. They first appear to be shy but infact they have cracking personalities and are real gentle giants, please help them we don\'t want them to be in a pen for much longer.

Penfold and Barney (6 Years and 4 Years)



Please stop and look at us! Most people pass us by without even opening the door, why? Yes we’re black, but we actually have glossy velvety fur, a pleasure to stroke, and very attractive too. We may look big but that’s just because there’s two of us in a very small pen. We’d look smaller and more lap sized in a home! Not very lively? Do you blame us? We’ve been here so long that we no longer expect anyone to pay us any attention, if you open the door, we’ll get up and say hello and enjoy a fuss. Any other reason to pass us by? No? Then what are you waiting for...

Dylan and Daisy (7 years)



Please can someone help these poor siblings. They had a rough start in life 7 years ago when they were born out in the wilderness and left to starve, understandably they were very frightened of humans and spent a while here at Axhayes. We found them a new home with a couple that built up their trust and brought them around, however, like most cats they are sensitive and when babies arrived in the house they were frightened of these new arrivals and didn’t know what to do. Unfortunately this has not got better with time and their owners thought it better for Dylan and Daisy if they found a loving quiet new home where they can be themselves again. Please can you help. Fenton (4 years)



Please Please help me I am back here again, originally rescued by the RSPCA as a kitten I was homed to somewhere rurally where I liked to fill my time by hunting like all young cats like to do. For this reason I was brought back. Then I was homed again, however, 2 years down the line I am back again. This time my owners had split up and my mum couldn’t afford to keep me and my friend. Funnily enough my last owner said I never hunted when there and am a sweet natured lazy lad. I have had such an insecure life so far so its understandable that I am a little hesitant with new people but I am sweet to boot and want and deserve nothing more than a secure and loving home. One condition it must be forever this time.

Golum (12 years old)



I’m a well educated cat and spent my time hanging around in Exwick middle school in order to further my knowledge. It didn't work!!! They caught me and brought me here to find a proper home as they said that I needed someone to love me full time, and not just during term time. Sounds good too me! Are you the lucky candidate that will adopt the cat with a high IQ??

Max (Aged)



Max has been a stray for ten years, people in the neighbourhood put food out for him but no one ever invited him into their home so he was forced to shelter in sheds. Now he has become old and in need of a proper home, a warm bed and regular food everyone has denied that he is their responsibility and no longer want him around. Max is a loveable older chap that just wants somewhere to really call home. He deserves lots of love and to give lots of love too. We are sure he would make a wonderful companion for the right person.

Vogue (8-9 years)



Vogue has been at the centre for quite a few months now and was becoming increasingly depressed in a pen situation. She was allowed to roam freely in the hope of showing everyone just how sweet she was outside a pen. She has since decided to take up residence in our plush outside lodge so prospective adoptees are not getting a chance to see her. If you are looking for a sweet natured cat, independent but affectionate cat then she’s the one for you. Please do not hesitate to ask at reception and we will take you to see her, you won’t be disappointed.

Charlie and Ruby ( 18 months)



Once upon a time we had a lovely home, with parents who loved us and nothing in the world to worry about, then it all came crashing down around us. Our owners separated and their house repossessed. They were homeless and now we are homeless. Luckily we were squeezed in here so we are lucky however its not the same as a home of our own. Can you help us to become a part of your family to feel loved and settled again.

Jasper and Tatties (2 years)



This lovely, friendly pair were also part of the large family whose owner died. All they need is a loving home to put a smile back on their faces once again. Can you deliver that smile.

Tinker (4 years)



Poor little Tink has had a lot of turmoil in the past year. She was once a very happy, much loved and pampered pet until her owners decided to emigrate and she wasn’t part of the plan. She was taken to a branch of the Cats Protection where she has remained for the last 12 months. She is a sweet liitle girl who is used to being the centre of attention so doesn’t like sharing with other pets. She completely hates a pen situation and gets extremely fed up to the point when she moans a lot, this is only grumbling to show you her frustration and unhappiness. She needs a loving new home where she can finally Settle down and start to enjoy life again please give her the home she deserves.

Jimmy and Bobby (18 Months)



Hello I am Jimmy and this is my brother Bobby (you can tell which one is me as I have a little tiny white patch on my back!) We are a bit worried that no-one will notice us because we are another pair of black cats, but we really don’t want to be here too long as it’s our second time in a rescue centre, the first time we got a home when we were just 8 weeks old. We would like a fairly calm quiet house to settle into for the rest of our lives.

Izzy (12 Years)



Unfortunately her owner could no longer cope with her. She has been a much loved family pet all her life, so being here is like being in prison and she is not happy about it, she is used to all the creature comforts cats are accustom to. Her owner had nothing but good things to say about her, she is very affectionate and loves a lap to sit on as she has got older her hunting has subsided, she always got on with the grand kids, now in the autumn years of her life, this is not a good place to be, she would make a great companion cat for anybody

Naomi and Suki ( 4 years)



Just look at us. What a beautiful pair of cats we are. Our owner died and we only had four years with her. We are not happy being here and really miss the comforts of a home. Please help us and give us a loving home, we are use to doing our own thing out in the countryside so a similar environment would be needed, we are not good with traffic you see.

Valentino (2-3 years)



Don’t you think I am an handsome boy. I am looking for a home with plenty of space and understanding people. I came here with some other cats as our owner had too many but the trouble with living with so many cats is that none of us got that much attention which is why I am rather shy. Once you get to know me I am very sweet indeed all I need is a chance to become a loving companion. I do like other cats too especially my mate next door Valentine maybe you would like us both to come live with you.

If you have plenty of patience and understanding then I’m the cat for you. I came from a family that had way too many cats so I never had much individual attention and therefore am a shy chap. I need lots of space to run around and learn how to play. If you like a bit of a challenge then please please pick me. One thing you can be assure of I love other cats so maybe a friends too would be great, that handsome chap next door Valentino is my bestmate, hint hint.

Joseph (5-6 years)



This lovely lad was found wandering the street in an undesirable part of town all alone and very unloved. He was looking very worse for wear having never castrated or loved in is life. He is slowly coming around and through initially wary he is very affectionate once trust is gained and likes nothing better than a tickle under the chin. If you can give Joseph the TLC he so desperately needs he in turn has plenty to offer you.

Willow (2 years)



Well well well can someone please help me, you see I have been here forever now and the reason for this is I am just afraid of humans. You can touch me and stroke me and generally accept me into your heart but I am just so scared of people I freeze and don\'t know what to do. Up to coming here many many months ago I had never been shown any human kindness at all thats why I don\'t understand it now. I desperately need a home where you will understand my needs, not expect too much too soon and help me to develop into the sweet cat I know is inside me. Please help.

Hi my name is Chubby and I just want to tell you all about me and plead with you to take me home as I really don’t want to be here a moment longer. I have had a rough life so far, abused as a youngster I was kicked and hit which is why I don’t like the bottom of my back stroked. I love my head being tickled though and would ask that you understand that all cats hate a part of them being touched, I’m sure you will agree I have my reasons. I am a right character who has been here for many months now and would just love a home all of my own. I have lived with other cats and should not be a problem to whichever nice person decides to give me a chance, please help.

We are two lonely and bewildered kitties grieving for the loss of our beloved owner who died recently. We are depressed here, having only known our happy loving home, we are finding it a bit strange and overwhelming. We desperately need a new family who will take us home and make us feel happy and content once more. We will make perfect companions if you give us a chance.

Magic (7 months)



Ducking and Diving, Dodging and hiding, just trying to survive. Hunting for food even stealing scraps, I’m so lucky to be alive. The streets aren’t a place for an orphan that’s for sure, I’m lucky I was taken in because I deserve so much more. I’ve got a warm bed and plenty of food but there’s still something missing. It has to be you!!! If you can love me with all of your heart then I’ll be well on my way to a brand new start.

Cupid(1-2 Years)



If there was a prize for window shopping I’d probably win it. All day, every day watching human’s walk by. I’ve seen several that I like but just when I’ve made up my mind they’ve been snapped up. I know the purrfect ones are just waiting to be found. They will have lots of room in their house, a garden for me to play, cuddles in abundance and love me come what may. I don’t want to be a window shopper forever, I’m too adorable not to have a home.

Taggert (6-7 years)



This handsome chap finds himself here after his owners partner suddenly became allergic. Unfortunately he could not keep him so he was shipped down here to Devon to find a new life. So now this gentle affectionate boy finds himself in search of a new home if you can take him home you will not be disappointed as we are sure once settled he will make the best pet ever, in return all we ask is just don’t let him down, he doesn’t deserve it.

Curly (5 years)



Ahh how handsome is Curly? He is a lovely ginger boy with a curly belly. He has been homeless for as long as he can remember, wondering the countryside searching for food and shelter and eventually he made it into someones garden and they took him in. He has a sweet temperament and loves a fuss. We are sure he will make a wonderful companion so please take him home.

Tabitha (4 years)



BOO!!! There now I have your attention would you like to come and make friends with me? My name is Tabitha and I am four years old. I have had a home before but found the young children a bit too much, they annoyed me but didn’t like it when I returned the favour. When I was younger I had a bump from a car and now have metal plate in my leg but everyone says you cannot tell and it doesn’t bother me or need any attention so please don’t let that put you off. So now are we friends and I have told you all about me, please take me home.

Teddy (4-5 years)



My Name is Teddy, I’m a gorgeous big boy. The girls here managed to find me a name that really suits me as I am just like a big Teddy Bear. I was wondering the streets just looking for anyone to care enough an give me some love and attention. I juts want a lap and some TLC and I will be fine. If you are looking for someone to love and share a sofa with then I’m just the cat for you.

Susie (10 years)



This very lovely but very unhappy little girl has only ever known a quiet life with her beloved elderly owner. She is here now because unfortunately he died and left her all alone in the world. She was just hours from being put to sleep when we agreed to take her in. She is fit and healthy but is finding life here very overwhelming and she misses her home dreadfully. The only way to help her is to take her home and give her lots of love and promise her she will always have a secure and loving home. Once she is out of here and has time to settle we have no doubt that she’ll be a very happy affectionate girl, so please give her the chance she so desperately needs.

Petey(3-4 years)



I was lost and straying for as long time gradually looking worse by the day. I became injured but luckily some kind lady took me to the vets for my leg to be treated. I was then brought here and my leg is now healed and I am looking a million times better. I am looking for a new home to call my own where I can be loved, cared for and Settled. I am an absolute sweet heart now my true colours have shown and I have learned to trust the girls, I will follow you around like a little dog and lap up as much attention as you can give me.

Jasper and Munchkin (8-10 years)



Poor Munchkin and Jasper, they spent years together happy with their human family until their owner got ill and was unable to keep them any longer. They are sweet pair who love each other dearly and we are sure they would make ideal new members of any family as they are very affectionate and get on with other cats and dogs. Please make their dreams come true and give them a loving new home for life.

Lama (1 year)



Lama is a lovely, friendly little chap who came into the centre as a stray. He is energetic, playful and full of character and is looking for a new home where he will get the love and attention he so deserves.

Cliff (4 years)



Cliff is a handsome happy chappy whose only fault is to have a beautiful fur coat that his owners child was allergic to. Such a shame to be made homeless even though he was such a terrific cat. I guess he’s just unlucky. You can change his luck by just opening his door and saying hello. He has a wonderful character which anyone will see within five minutes. You won’t be able to resist his charms. Make him a lucky boy.

Marshall (5 years)



Talk about a survivor, this cat deserves a medal. Poor Marshall had been found straying in Tiverton and when he was brought to the shelter he was in a very sorry state. He was weather beaten and sad, with a cyst on his neck and a ruptured diaphragm. After a major operation and plenty of TLC he is feeling much better and made a full recovery. He is looking forward to relaxing in front of a fire, sunbathing in a garden and generally being loved. He is now full of life and likes nothing better than a good game of chase the ball, especially if there’s cat nip involved. He’s such a terrific character and will keep you amused for hours, and after he\'s give you cuddles for hours! Don’t give him a medal give him a home

Maeve



This story has taken someone a long time to write because she says I was too cute, cuddly and purry to put down, so I made the most of it and stayed for a big fuss. I may be getting on a bit and not be so bouncy and playful as a lot of cats here but after finding myself homeless and alone for quite some time I would reward someone with pure loyalty and love sharing lots of gentle cuddles and purrs in exchange for a place in your heart and home.

Levi and Charlotte (9 years)



This is second time these cats find themselves in care, they were homed firstly by another animal protection agency as kittens too what they thought were a nice responsible family, but then it went horribly wrong. They came to us after a divorce and they could no longer afford to keep or indeed want the cats. Charlotte from all accounts spent much of her life outside after being terrorised by the children. She is still a little nervous and it didn\'t help that when she came in she had a terrible untreated collar wound which we have to treat everyday making her very wary when we now go in the pen, she really is a sweetie so in time we are sure she will come around and learn to trust people again. Levi on the other hand copes a lot better with his life an is a well adjusted cat who loves to be kissed and cuddled. At the end of the day these cats deserve a lot better and this time this is what we are hoping for. Please don’t let them down again.

Rosie and Lilly (5 years)



What a striking pair we are....don’t you think? We had to come in here because our owner simply couldn’t afford to keep us. We are very sad as although we are well cared for here its not the same as being in a home where we would get lots of affection. Can you offer us a new home to call our own?

Mitzi and Phoebe (8 years)



We are two lovely ladies who thought we had a great life. A comfy home and loving family, we didn’t think we’d have any worries ever again! Then one day our loving family moved house and couldn’t or wouldn’t take us with them. We don’t know which. Either way our hearts have been broken and now we have no home and no family. We’re also not used to being cooped up together in a tiny space, we desperately need someone to give us back the life we’re used to. Can you find it in y our hearts to help us adorable, loving cats find happiness again?

Hunter ( 2 years)



Hunter by name hunter by nature, I\'m afraid that this handsome chap was just doing what came naturally to him and was out and about enjoying himself. This was unfortunately not to his owners taste and therefore he found himself here looking for a new home. As you can see he is a full bengal cat therefore please do your research on the breed before you become smitten with him, whilst very loving and loyal they do have some characteristics that are not to everyones taste. We are sure that he will make a wonderful addition to the right family.

Thomas and Rosie (7-8 years)



Two lovely affectionate cats looking for a new home as heartbreakingly their owner became terminally ill. Thomas was originally a stray who had had an extremely bad start to life and has Rhinitis, it doesn’t affect his health permanently and just means he has runny eyes and sneezes (a bit like hay fever) ever so often. Rosie is a little sweet heart who loves a cuddle. Can you give them a new home.

Goldie (2 years)



Well what a palarva, I was happily settled in my home with an owner who looked after and loved me, then one day she became ill and had to go into hospital indefinitely. I had no where to go and no one to look after me. She had to make the heartbreaking decision to give me up for rehoming, so that’s why I’m here no fancy story to tell just one plain sad one. Please make it have an happy ending and decide I’m the cat for you.

HI my name is Tootsie and if I could just draw your attention to the reason I’m here. Its because my owners decided to emigrate abroad and unfortunately I was not allowed to go with them. I am a gentle, friendly little cat looking for a loving new home to call my own. So why not pencil a date for you diary and come and visit me you won’t be disappointed.

Moss (3 years)



Calling all serious Cat lovers, “Hi” my Name is Moss, I was in a right state when I was rescued by the girls, terrified and alone with my tail skinned and broken and my general body condition appalling. Just another lonely and unloved stray who has never know human love or kindness. Understandably I am extremely scared of people and may be cowering out back as you read this. If I’m up in my pen then it means I am slowly getting better but there is still work to do. Are you that special person who can give me time and patience and help build my trust in the world, it may not be instant results but to see the rewards when I do will be just fantastic. Aren’t I handsome, a Turkish Van that’s what I am. A loving, loyal, lap cat who just didn\'t like my owners existing cats. I would benefit from a home all of my own with a lovely garden to explore and away from traffic as I do not have any road sense. Can you offer me the love and security I am craving for, I want to settle in a home of my own and never leave again, please help.

Hi my name is Jessie I was brought into the shelter for an all too common reason my owner was moving and could not take me with them. I am an extremely sweet and affectionate girl who likes nothing more than a lap to sit, I love fuss and love and would just make a lovely addition to any family. Please take me away from here as nice as it is and welcome me into your home.

Munster (5-6 years)



Hi please feel free to take a look in my pen but I’m afraid its unlikely that I will be in there to greet you. You see I’m just another cat thrown out into the countryside un-neutered and left to fend for myself. I cower out the back as everything is just so overwhelming and scary but I am making progress by the day. As you can see from the pictures one of the lovely ladies here is spending a lot of time building up my trust and I am now beginning to realise that you humans aren’t that bad after all. Please give me a chance to have a normal life in a home where I will be loved and looked after and given the first real chance to act like a pet cat.

Little Legs and Rufus (1 year)



Wonderful pair of Siblings who are great all rounders, they will make great family pets and will give you years of love and affection. They are here through no fault of there own as there owner had to have a family member return to live with them who was allergic to cats. You won’t regret it if you adopt this wonderful pair so go on why not.

Tiny (18 months)



Tiny by name Tiny by nature, spot me in the pen with my kittens and you can barely tell the difference. I was no age or size to have five kittens but because my owner couldn\'t be bothered to get me neutered I obviously became pregnant. I gave birth in a guinea pig hutch and somehow managed to keep myself and my babies going. I am now neutered, have raised my babies and am raring to go to a loving, responsible new home, is that with you please say yes.

Jess ( 8-9 years)



Jess is a very sweet little girl who was found straying in a built up part of Exeter, with no-one to love or no-where to call home. Who knows where she had been before and how she lost her way. Still times have not made her bitter in any way as she is a lovely little girl with a lovely personality. Please take her home and give her the love she deserves.

Humpty and Dumpty (8-10 years)



Strange names we hear you say well there is a reason for that, you see our owner decided that they no longer wanted us so rather than call they just decided to dump us on the doorstep here at Axhayes in the middle of the night. What would have happened if there was no space for us at the centre as there often isn’t, but, we were lucky the girls here managed to squeeze us in and ensure that our welfare was top priority. If only our owners had cared so much as to even leave our names with us then this unsettling period would have been more bearable. So dumped is the theme, alone and unloved and craving for someone nice to take us on and never leave us again.

Index (4 years old)



Index as been at the shelter for over 3 years now, she spent the 1st year in a pen until we could take no more of her being overlooked and let her spend her days in the staff room. She quickly fell head over heals in love with another cat called Clairey and they were inseperable. All this time she was extremely nervous of people and would just run away as she didn’t need anyone else except her mate Clairey. Unfortunately a few weeks ago Clairey died, it was heartbreaking as we watched Index mourn away for days her only friend in the whole wide world gone. She has however realised that she doesn’t want to be on her own anymore and that us humans are not as bad as she first though. She will now look for the girls when they enter the staff room and actually let you fuss and stroke her, rewarding you with delightful little meows. We do feel that she still really deserves a home all of her own particularly as we only get to spend lunch time with her and she is now craving so much more. A quiet home with either one person or a couple to shower her with love and attention would be just purr-fect…..
